…I had a professor who once said “if something presents itself three times, you should pay attention. The universe is trying to tell you something”.
And then I learned that three is also a sacred number for the Mayan.
In 2005 I came across the term Mayan Abdominal Massage and was interested. Soon after I found a more in-depth reference to it and was intrigued. In 2006 my husband was about to climb Mt Rainier and would be off the grid for three days. I needed to find something to keep my mind off worrying, and in the events calendar I saw Mayan Abdominal Massage, Self-Care. I was enthralled!
I became a Certified Practitioner in 2008 and am honored to have been allowed to facilitate the healing benefits of this ancient modality. The therapy is now trademarked as The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy or Arvigo Therapy. I apprenticed under Dr Rosita Arvigo and have traveled to her home in Belize three times. It is truly a transformative place.
In 2009 I was again certified by Rosita, this time in Maya Spiritual Healing. The rainforest of Belize holds many lessons for us and its wisdom is humbling. The plants there are the origin for a great many of our synthetic medications. You cannot put a patent on a plant, and so the pharmaceutical companies raced for imitation.
“It’s simple, my child, if you don’t thank the Spirit of the plant before you take it from the earth, it will not heal the people.”
